Day Care Disaster

As most of you know by now, we've been dealing with finding new childcare for John Stephen due to his present caregiver not working out. After three weeks of him going to the present lady, we had enough issues with her to find some place else. She might be really good with older kids, but she SUCKS with infants. Even after being given typed instructions and told repeatedly how to take care of a happy, healthy, breastfed child, she just couldn't figure it out. Ended up letting him cry to tell her he was hungry, stuffing a bottle in his mouth every time he cried (because that's the only possible reason why a 3 month old would cry, right?), overfed him to the point of him throwing up and left him in a dirty diaper long enough for it to dry to his butt. Nevermind her propping his bottle up on his blanket in the bouncy seat to feed him because it was too much trouble to hold him and give him his bottle. When I suggested that she hold him, she acted like it was the first time anyone had told her that babies like to be held while someone is feeding them.

Anyway, after much stress, tears and wanting to kill her, we found a professional daycare and after having a trial day with them yesterday we've decided that's the way we are going to go. When I picked him up yesterday afternoon, he was all smiles and very happy. We got regular email updates throughout the day on how he was doing and what he was doing at that time. That makes being so far away from him all day a lot easier!

Thanks to everyone who listened to our frustrations and kept telling us it would all work out in the end. Here's to hoping we don't have to go through this again!!!

I'm so sorry that you guys have had to go through that. Finding great care for your child is certainly nerve wracking! I'm glad you found a better place.
